GMAT Preparation

Preparation for the GMAT Focus Edition, covering Quantitative, Verbal and Data Insights, built around the adaptive format business schools use.

About this examination

The GMAT is a graduate management admissions test administered by GMAC and used principally by business schools. The current GMAT Focus Edition has three sections, Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning and Data Insights, each scored from 60 to 90, with a total score from 205 to 805. It is question-adaptive: each question's difficulty responds to the answers before it, and questions cannot be revisited once a section is submitted, though a limited number may be bookmarked and edited within it.

What you will work on

  • Quantitative Reasoning: problem solving across arithmetic, algebra and word problems; note that the Focus Edition removed geometry
  • Verbal Reasoning: critical reasoning and reading comprehension, the two remaining question types
  • Data Insights: data sufficiency, table analysis, graphics interpretation, multi-source reasoning and two-part analysis
  • Reading an argument for its structure, meaning premise, assumption and conclusion, which is most of critical reasoning
  • Working under an adaptive clock, where early accuracy shapes the rest of the section

How preparation is approached

  • Establishing which section is costing the most, since the three are scored separately and weighted differently by schools
  • Data Insights treated as its own discipline rather than an afterthought; it is new, and it is where most candidates are least prepared
  • Timed sets from the start, because pacing on an adaptive test cannot be added at the end
  • Every wrong answer traced to its cause: a content gap, a misread, or a timing decision

Worth knowing

Because questions cannot be freely revisited, guessing strategy and time discipline carry more weight on the GMAT than on most tests. Preparation treats them as skills to be practised, not advice to be given once.

The Process

Preparing for GMAT

The same five stages apply to GMAT preparation as to every other program at Educate Talents.

  1. Step 01: Understand Your Goals

We start with a conversation about your target examination, timeline, and academic ambitions.

  2. Step 02: Assess Your Starting Point

A diagnostic session identifies your current strengths and the areas that need the most attention.

  3. Step 03: Build Your Learning Plan

A personalized preparation schedule is designed around your goals, pace, and availability.

  4. Step 04: Practice, Teach & Refine

Structured lessons, timed practice, and targeted feedback keep your progress on track.

  5. Step 05: Prepare with Confidence

By examination day, you are fully prepared, with strategy, content, and mindset all aligned.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Classes

Are lessons online or in person?

Lessons are taught online, one to one and live. That is the confirmed format, and it is what allows students to join from anywhere rather than only from the teacher's own city.

Can I take lessons from outside the teacher's country?

Yes. Because lessons are delivered online, students can join from anywhere in the world. Reach out and we can work out a schedule that fits your timezone.

Are lessons one to one or in a group?

Both. Lessons run one to one or in small groups, online or in person, depending on what suits the learner. One-to-one work is built around an individual student's goals, starting point and pace; small groups suit students who work better alongside others.

Preparation

Which examinations do you prepare students for?

Currently confirmed: SAT, IELTS, TOEFL, CELPIP, IGCSE, GRE, GMAT, WAEC, NECO, Summer Lessons, Fall Lessons, Spring Lessons, Academic Support, Special Education. Other examinations are listed on the Programs page and are being confirmed. Message us to ask about a specific one.

How long does exam preparation take?

As a guide: IGCSE runs 8 to 12 weeks per subject, SAT 8 to 12 weeks, and IELTS or TOEFL 6 to 8 weeks. K-12 support is ongoing month to month. After a free assessment you get a personalised study plan with the exact duration and a target score, rather than a generic timetable.

Do you provide learning materials?

Yes, and at no extra cost: practice tests and past questions, study guides and worksheets, IEP templates and differentiated resources for learners with special educational needs, and literacy resources including the teacher's own storybooks.

Consultation

What happens in a consultation?

A conversation about what you need, whether that is an examination and its timeline or the subjects and grade you want lessons in, and how it would work for you.

How do I get started?

Message us on WhatsApp using any of the buttons on this site, or send an enquiry from the Contact page. Tell us which examination you are preparing for and roughly when you plan to sit it. For lessons, tell us the student's grade and the subjects you want covered. We will take it from there.
