TOEFL Preparation
Targeted TOEFL iBT preparation with reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills built to exam standard.
About this examination
The TOEFL iBT is an English-language proficiency test administered by ETS and accepted by universities in many countries. It covers Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing, and reports a total score out of 120, made up of four sections scored out of 30.
What you will work on
- Reading: academic passages, inference questions, and vocabulary in context
- Listening: lectures and campus conversations, and note-taking that actually supports the questions
- Speaking: structuring a spoken response within a short preparation window
- Writing: the integrated task, which combines a reading and a lecture, and the independent essay
- Note-taking technique, which carries across every section of the test
How preparation is approached
- A diagnostic across all four sections to find where the score is actually being lost
- Focused instruction on the integrated tasks, which students most often find unfamiliar
- Spoken and written responses recorded and reviewed against the official rubrics
- Full-length practice under exam conditions as the test date approaches
Worth knowing
TOEFL is delivered entirely on a computer, including the Speaking section, which is recorded rather than spoken to an examiner. Preparation includes getting comfortable with that format.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Classes
Are lessons online or in person?
Lessons are taught online, one to one and live. That is the confirmed format, and it is what allows students to join from anywhere rather than only from the teacher's own city.
Can I take lessons from outside the teacher's country?
Yes. Because lessons are delivered online, students can join from anywhere in the world. Reach out and we can work out a schedule that fits your timezone.
Are lessons one to one or in a group?
Both. Lessons run one to one or in small groups, online or in person, depending on what suits the learner. One-to-one work is built around an individual student's goals, starting point and pace; small groups suit students who work better alongside others.
Preparation
Which examinations do you prepare students for?
Currently confirmed: SAT, IELTS, TOEFL, CELPIP, IGCSE, GRE, GMAT, WAEC, NECO, Summer Lessons, Fall Lessons, Spring Lessons, Academic Support, Special Education. Other examinations are listed on the Programs page and are being confirmed. Message us to ask about a specific one.
How long does exam preparation take?
As a guide: IGCSE runs 8 to 12 weeks per subject, SAT 8 to 12 weeks, and IELTS or TOEFL 6 to 8 weeks. K-12 support is ongoing month to month. After a free assessment you get a personalised study plan with the exact duration and a target score, rather than a generic timetable.
Do you provide learning materials?
Yes, and at no extra cost: practice tests and past questions, study guides and worksheets, IEP templates and differentiated resources for learners with special educational needs, and literacy resources including the teacher's own storybooks.
Consultation
What happens in a consultation?
A conversation about what you need, whether that is an examination and its timeline or the subjects and grade you want lessons in, and how it would work for you.
How do I get started?
Message us on WhatsApp using any of the buttons on this site, or send an enquiry from the Contact page. Tell us which examination you are preparing for and roughly when you plan to sit it. For lessons, tell us the student's grade and the subjects you want covered. We will take it from there.
